            June 2007 - Newsletter

Dear Sisters and Brothers,

Bon Voyage and G'day from all 18 of us in Australia (when we arrive on June 1"! ). Prior to attending the United Grand Chapter session, we will hug a Koala or pet a Kangaroo for you!

The month of May was busy with more District Deputy Grand Matron visits and Courtesy Visits. The Work & Ritual Workshops, which are now complete, were very well attended and I have received many comments indicating they were enjoyed by all. A lovely Reception by my home Chapter, Encircler #191, Sts. John Chapter #35 and Wm. D. White Chapter #141 was given to honor the Grand Officers of District 20 on May 12th. We appreciate all who joined us for this lovely occasion.

We had a lovely turnout of volunteers to help with the Special Olympics held at Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond on May 19. This was a wonderful "Community Service" project for our Louisiana Order of the Eastern Star members but was certainly a very rewarding experience for each of us who participated. A very special thank you to everyone who helped. We have been invited to return next year as they certainly appreciated our assistance.

Our first Masonic Relations Day was held in the Northern Section at the Martin McClanahan Lodge on Saturday, May 26. We had a great turnout and also a good representation from several of the Masonic bodies. We had an exciting and fun day! Many thanks to State Chairman, Brother Sam Lamkin.

Our golden chain was broken by the passing of Sister Willie Mae Painich, PGM and Sister Juanita Smith, PGM. Our deepest condolences to their families and their chapters.

A Father means so many things...

An understanding heart,

A source of strength and of support....

Right from the very start.

A constant readiness to help...

In a kind and thoughtful way,

With encouragement and forgiveness,

No matter what comes your way.

A special generosity and always affection, too...

A father means so many things, When he's a man like you.

Happy Father's Day to all Dads!

Star Love & Miles of Smiles

Diane Smith,

Worthy Grand Matron

APPRECIATION

A thank you note to our Eastern Star friends. We really appreciate Eastern Stars, you're helpful giving ways and how your generous heart, your unselfishness displays. We thank you for your kindness. We will not soon forget. You are the nicest people we have ever met. We thank you for your inquiries and cards, but most of all we thank you for your prayers. We'll be seeing you down the road. George & Juanita Wilkinson, AGM

With permission of the Worthy Grand Matron I express my thanks for every expression of love, kindness, and monetary gifts my Sisters and Brothers showed me and my family while Virginia was in the hospital and at her death. I especially appreciate all the prayers on our behalf which is the most powerful medicine ever made. You truly exemplified what our beautiful Order teaches, "That we love one another." When sorrow and troubles come, please read John 14:27. God Bless all of you, Charlie Fisher
