From the Desk of the Worthy Grand Matron:
Dear Sisters and Brothers:
What a great start we are experiencing
this year. I have heard wonderful
reports on your Deputy
visits. I am encouraged by the many reports of new petitions. We had an awesome turnout of 44 members for
Mississippi Grand Chapter and 11 for Tennessee Grand Chapter. We appreciate your efforts to represent our
state in other Grand Jurisdictions.
Our Special Project this year is called
“Project Hope” for Cancer. It is
divided into 3 parts. The first part is for St. Jude’s Children of
Louisiana. Each District has been given
a Danny Bear to encourage competition between chapters. The goal for each chapter is $100.00. The second part is for Cancer Services with
a goal of $100.00. The proceeds of the
“Star Trekker” Personal Achievement Award will be applied to this segment. The third part will benefit the Ronald McDonald
House. We will collect cola tabs for
this phase. The goal for each chapter
is 1 gallon. Brother Richard Shaw, WGP
and I have a personal competition going on.
We will collect pennies, with our Danny Bears for St. Jude. The person with the lowest number of pennies
will entertain you in a special way at Grand Chapter.
Our other projects include “Project
Faith” for ESTARL with a goal of $100.00 per chapter. Five sunflower pins have been distributed to each chapter to
raise a portion of your goal. Memorials
and donations will be accepted for all projects. “Project Charity” is for Community Service. Each chapter is asked to plan a project for
each quarter. “Project Future” is for
our Youth Organizations. The chapter
goal will be $50.00. We will continue
our Silver Drills in June for Rainbow and in October for Demolay. We encourage you to assist all youth in your
area. “Project Dream” is our membership drive.
Our goal is to show a “Gain for the Year.” “Project Wish” is our effort to help the “Grand Lodge Dyslexia
Program.”
The
chapter goal is $100.00. A great way to
raise this money is to recycle soda cans in our “Cash for Cans” program. We will continue our efforts to assist
members who have been affected by the hurricanes. With “Project Believe”, we plan to donate $100.00 per chapter to
this worthy cause. “Star Trekkers”, as
mentioned above, will be similar to last year’s project with individuals
earning stars for their contribution to Cancer, their travel and visitation as
well as their benevolent acts.
“Together We Can” is our Fraternal
Relations program. We will have three
Fraternal Relations Days for each section of the state. You will hear more about this at a later
date.
We thank you for passing the resolution
to establish our Grand Chapter Data Base program. It will be called the “Pelican Brief.” We thank you in advance for the cooperation you will give this committee.
Wow, I know this sounds like a lot to
do, but like my Grandma always said, “Put your mind to it, and get it done.”
Fraternally,
Jane McDaniel

Dear Eastern Star
Family, Please accept my gratitude for
your generous donation to the Rainbow Girls of Louisiana at Grand Chapter. The
funds will be distributed to every young lady that is attending Grand Assembly
and has been designated toward their meal cost. In a year when many of us have suffered great financial losses as
well as personal loss, you still remembered the needs of our girls and for that
I am truly grateful. Your efforts have helped to teach our members the purpose
of our organizations, that of love and service. We sincerely hope that you will be able to join us at Grand
Assembly during the opening session on June 15th. Again, thank you for
remembering these very special young ladies. Fraternally, Sherry G. Wood, Supreme Deputy, I.O.R.G.
