About the Magazine
Previous to the current format, a quarterly
newsletter was published by the Grand Lodge that dealt
with activities, updates and programs
within
the Grand Lodge, the Masonic Home for Children and
on occasion a Blue Lodge. Pictures were rarely used
and the issues were printed by mimeograph machines
on standard copy paper in letter size. The issues
varied in length between 6 and 10 pages.
M: W: Ray W. Burgess, PGM was the architect
of the current format for The LOUISISANA FREEMASON
magazine. He was appointed Chairman and Editor of
the Committee to Supervise the Publication in 1996.
He held this position until his death in 2006. M:
W: Bro Burgess' vision was to feature articles on
Louisiana Masonic history, deceased Past Grand Masters,
Masonic lectures and promotion of local Lodge events.
Under his guidance the magazine received numerous
honors and awards. A forty page issue is published
quarterly in Winter, Spring, Summer and Fall editions
following the Trestleboard of Ray Burgess.
